Shelf-ready packaging

Built for easy opening, shelf display and fast replenishment.

Shelf-ready packaging has a job that is not visible in a simple specification: it should shorten the route from backroom to shelf without creating chaos.

Easy opening on shelfStructures that reduce in-store work during replenishment.
Display-ready frontClear product and variant presentation without extra handling.
Stable in logisticsFormat matched to transport, palletisation and shelf execution.

Process cost

In FMCG, packaging is part of the process

Shelf-ready packaging often fails through details: weak perforation, poor front visibility, confusing SKU communication or a tray that loses stiffness after opening.

Project focus

How we design packaging

Easy identification

A structure matched to product, volume and process to reduce cost, risk or handling time.

Easy opening

Simpler assembly, opening and handling so the pack does not slow the team down.

Easy shelf placement

Clear front, SKU visibility and product access without unnecessary in-store work.

Easy shopping and product access

A structure matched to product, volume and process to reduce cost, risk or handling time.

Easy flattening and recycling

A structure matched to product, volume and process to reduce cost, risk or handling time.

Display stability after opening

Clear front, SKU visibility and product access without unnecessary in-store work.

Packaging brief

Check whether your packaging is truly shelf-ready

Share photos of the opened pack and describe in-store handling. We will assess structure, perforation, front panel, board and format.

BART process

From brief to stable production

01

Brief and diagnosis

We collect information about the product, volume, channel, current packaging and the problem to solve.

02

Structure and board

We define format, flute, ply count, stabilising elements, opening logic and print scope.

03

Prototype or variants

We compare directions by protection, total cost, packing speed, palletisation and display performance.

04

Technical verification

We check material and packaging parameters where they reduce implementation risk.

05

Production and working standard

After approval, we move into production and help standardise the packaging workflow.

How we reduce implementation risk

At BART, packaging design, corrugated board, structure selection, print and quality control come together in one conversation. That means the discussion does not end with carton dimensions. We can focus on how the pack behaves in transport, on pallets, on the packing line and in display — especially when the real target is total process cost, not just unit price.

BART technical base

Our design can be verified before production

This is not about claiming that the pack will work. It is about verifying structure, material, process and compliance before the solution moves into regular production.

Research and technology

Material testing and quality control

Laboratory support helps verify paper, board and packaging parameters before scaling a packaging direction.

FAQ

Is shelf-ready the same as retail-ready?

No. Shelf-ready is a specific type of retail-ready packaging focused on quick shelf placement, product access and shelf performance.

Can we improve opening without redesigning everything?

Sometimes yes. Perforation, tear tape, cover geometry and tray stiffness may be enough to improve handling.

Does SRP work for small products?

Yes, especially when small products tip over, mix or lose visibility on shelf.

How do you judge a good SRP design?

It should be easy to identify, easy to open, easy to shelf, easy to shop and easy to flatten after use.

More context before the brief

Shelf-ready packaging should be evaluated through the whole process: easy identification, easy opening, easy shelf placement. A clear brief makes it easier to compare structure, board, handling and implementation options.

Before a discussion, it helps to define the product, current packaging, volume, palletisation, retail requirements and applications such as standard shelf, promotion shelf, small sku display. This gives the team a better starting point for verifying what should be checked before production and where packaging can reduce cost or implementation risk.
